Sunday Rituals: Amber

Sunday Rituals: Amber

A new series starts here. Each month, someone whose rituals I admire, a yoga teacher, an artist, a friend, answers nine questions about their Sundays and how they hold onto movement in a full week. They pick five to answer. No pressure to make it polished.

Starting with my own answers felt right before asking anyone else to share theirs.

What does a Sunday actually look like for you, start to finish?

Sundays start slow, in theory. My household has other plans. Most weeks I'm outvoted before I've properly woken up, and we're in the car heading to a local market for breakfast and coffee along the way. I've made my peace with it. There are worse ways to start a day.

Is there one small ritual you protect no matter how busy the week's been?

Yoga and face cream. Consistently. Mid forties requires a shift from what used to work, that's for sure.

How does movement fit into your week when you're deep in a creative project?

It gets harder to hold onto, if I'm honest. That's part of why SunHawk exists. I wanted a beautiful mat I could leave out, one that would look at home in the lounge room, sitting there as a quiet reminder to take that time for myself.

Where do you go, physically, when you need to reset?

I'm a homebody by nature, or the beach. There's something so cleansing about looking out to a clear horizon.

What is inspiring you at the moment?

The resurgence in community activities and crafting events. The power of people, gathering.

Coffee, always, I love a coffee shop. Tea, if I'm home.

Next month, Soph Rowe, the artist behind our Drop 2 collaboration, shares her Sundays from Melbourne.
